Three Months!

Yesterday Quinn turned three months old. We had a very special day. As usual, Quinn started the day with a smile on her face. When she wakes up in the morning and I peer in to her bassinette, she almost always greets me with a huge smile. It is such a beautiful sight! It makes her early wake time much easier to handle when I see her happy little face looking up at me. I can't describe how my heart fills up with love and adoration when I see her.

After breakfast, we had some tummy time. Quinn used to cry while placed on her tummy until very recently. Then it seemed to click for her that it  wasn't so bad. Within the past week or so, she has started to like it. It is fun to see her enjoy it, get stronger, and learn new skills.

Next, we went on a nice walk in the neighborhood.  Quinn has begun to like the stroller within the past month. When she was younger, she was not a fan, much to the dismay of her parents. Chad and I had to turn around early on many walks. Now that she can sit more upright and is more aware of her surroundings, she seems to find it more entertaining.

Here is a picture of earlier this month, when I had to carry Quinn during a walk at the park. She was not liking the stroller on that day! Chad and I are happy that our walks are improving.

After our walk, I made Quinn pose for her millions of obligatory 3 month sticker photos. Of course I had to put a bow on her head as well.

It was hard to get a photo without her hand in her mouth. She has been sucking and gnawing on her hand like crazy lately! Sometimes she even gags herself, as seen below.

Quinn is also moving around a lot more. Her arms and legs are constantly moving, and her little body is always squirming. She can now tear the sticker off of her tummy, which made the photo session trickier. What a change from a month ago!

I love her smiling face. She has really started to fill out this month, too! She is getting folds in her legs and arms and her face is round.

After I took her picture a zillion times, she enjoyed time in her bouncy chair. She loves it! I am so glad her Uncle Geoff recommended that we get a bouncy chair.

Later in the afternoon, we went outside to hang out with Daddy while he worked in the yard. Quinn rocked her new sunglasses.

Then we laid on a blanket and looked at the trees and the sky together. And then Quinn did something amazing! I held a leaf up in front of her. She slowly and purposefully reached and grabbed the leaf. She held it delicately between her fingers. This was much different than the playful batting at objects she was doing a month ago. Until I became a mom, I had no idea that something like this could be so exciting!

I love her serious face when she gazes at her surroundings outside. She studies everything around her.

Here is a picture of Daddy marveling over Quinn's new skill...this time with a big blade of grass.

Then we went inside. And I gave Quinn lots of kisses on the head, like I do every day.

I am loving being Quinn's mom. Taking care of a baby is a lot of work. But it is so fun to see her grow and change. The moments when she does something new or when we connect and bond are so special. Those moments overshadow the hard times. I feel so lucky to witness her grow and thrive.
