Nana's Visit

One of the most special things that happened during your first month was that Nana came to meet you. She arrived when you were 8 days old. She spent 10 days with us and it was a tender, meaningful time.

This was taken when Nana just arrived and held you for the first time. It was such an intense image to see my mother holding my daughter. I cried.

We spent many hours gazing at you and marveling over how special you are. Nana fell in love with your good-natured soul.

Nana cuddled you and learned quickly that you love to snuggle and to be held.

Not only did Nana give you a lot of love, she also helped me and Daddy around the house. She cooked some delicious meals and helped our house from looking messy. We appreciated this immensely. Since I was recovering from a c-section, I could not do much yet. Besides helping in this way, she also gave me a lot of encouragement as I began my ongoing, lifelong lesson of being a parent.

When it was time for Nana to leave, I felt deep sadness inside. I savored the time we had, but wished that we had longer. My heart ached about having you live far away from your family, little Quinn. I want you to have close relationships with my family and wish we did not have so much distance in between us. I cannot wait for you to see Nana again this summer. She will be amazed by how much you have grown! Even though I know we will have special visits in the future, I am so grateful that she was able to see you in the beginning.
